A Twist That Can Save the Planet

caps

Plastic bottle caps are washing up on ocean shores and posing environmental health and safety concerns. They are actually number 5 in a top 10 list of commonly found pieces of trash on the shores. The problem is clear, but so far no one has come up with a solution to keep these caps out of our oceans and landfills. That’s until now. Clever Caps has taken a conventional water bottle cap and TWISTED it with a Lego block – they’ve created an innovative solution for a world increasingly concerned about environmental pollution and trash build up.

With Clever Caps, users can create everything from furniture, to light fixtures, to art pieces, to children’s toys – and they interlock with similar crafting blocks already on the market.

We were so impressed by this TWIST that we donated to a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo. You can too.

Just by adding one simple out-of-category twist, Clever Caps created an all-around friendlier bottle cap that’s fun and more environmentally friendly.

Brand School Master Class gives you the tools you need to create the TWIST that will take your business further. Enrolling now HERE.

A Twist on What to Wear

letote

Busy, trend-conscious women often have no time to go out and browse the shops to keep their wardrobes current and in style. Clothing exchange site Le Tote makes it possible to get fashion delivered to your door – and you can wear, enjoy, and exchange the clothing for something new. Le Tote took the Netflix concept of a monthly subscription for DVD’s (use, return and exchange) and twisted it with fashion and accessories to give women a curated, budget-friendly, easier experience.

For less than the cost of one outfit, you can have several outfits per month sent directly to your door to try out. There are no shipping fees and no set return dates, so the outfits can be kept indefinitely or you can try out several different outfits per month.

There’s a brief  “style profile” to fill out and based on that, your concierge fashion advisor sends you a Tote coordinated with two jewelry accessories and three garments (dresses, skirts, tanks and blouses) to try on. You can keep them as long as you like and when you return them another Tote will be sent in its place.

Le Tote has developed a unique niche within current consumer trends: subscription e-commerce, personalized curated shopper experience, and a community identity.

Brand School gives you the tools innovate new TWISTS to deliver more of what your customer is looking for. Find out if your business qualifies for a one-on-one Brand Health Check Strategy Session HERE.

A Twist That Keeps Up With Kids

shoe-grow

Kids grow and they out grow their shoes. Efforts to keep children equipped with proper-fitting shoes is especially challenging in impoverished nations where hundreds of millions of children go shoeless and even more wear shoes that don’t fit.  Without shoes, they may suffer injuries and contract infections and parasites. This new TWIST is a new solution to an old, but potentially life and death problem.

Kids outgrowing their products and clothes is not a new thing.  Other categories have met this challenge with cribs that transform into toddler and then big kid beds, baby strollers that re-configure to fit toddlers, and even pants that have a few sizes built in with cuffs that roll down. How then to make a shoe that lasts and grows with a child?

The Shoe That Lasts does just that. It literally grows as a child grows and lasts up to five years. It was created by International Founder and Executive Director Kenton Lee when he was living in Nairobi. He spotted a little girl wearing shoes that were way to small for her feet. As he began to wonder why, he arrived at this question,  “Wouldn’t it be great if there was a shoe that could adjust and expand – so that kids always had a pair of shoes that fit?”

And so, The Shoe That Grows project began. This is the first project of Because International, a 501©3 organization committed to practical compassion to help those living in extreme poverty.

Kenton Lee saw a gap and filled a need. There’s always room to grow. Don’t be afraid to ask “What if?”

At Brand School we help give you the tools you need to ask the right questions and innovate solutions to grow your business.  See if Brand School could help grow your business with a one-on-one Brand Health Check Strategy Session.

A Sticky Twist Keeps Things Close at Hand

quickstick

Any crafts person, artist, home cook or busy mom knows that having favorite tools close at hand is a time and frustration-saver. You want that favorite spatula right by the stove but don’t want to take up valuable counter space with a bulky canister overflowing with tools you usually don’t use. QuickStick identified a real gap in the home décor market to help their customer “Unlock your potential space”.

They took the concept of a Post-it® and TWISTED it for a re-stickable tool holder that sticks on just about any surface. No screws or glue required.  Baby Boomers are scaling down, career changers are constantly re-locating, and young adults and college students deal with cramped quarters and building restrictions.

With all the new gadgets and gizmos out there it may feel like there is no more room for innovation, but think about what’s constricting or frustrating your customer and how your product or service can help them break free.

Fresh ideas come from looking at old problems from twisted perspectives.

Brand School gives you the tools you need to unlock your business’ potential through new concepts and communications that delight and inspire your target.

Beauty On-The-Go with a TWIST

beautified

Life is busier than ever. Planning ahead for a haircut, manicure, spa or gym reservation isn’t always possible and when you do find yourself with a spare minute not everyone takes last minute appointments. Many busy business people also find that out of town work travel allows for some down time, but when you are in an unfamiliar city – how do you find where to go for those services?

Take a Salon and TWIST it with UBER and you get Beautified, the new mobile app that makes it easy to find and book last-minute beauty and fitness appointments.

Beautified does for personal grooming what UBER does for taxi service – they address your need, simplify your search and bring it directly to your phone, in real time.

Serving their customers on both ends Beautified helps salons and gyms fill open spaces and helps patrons find the shops where and when they need them.

Beautified has just launched in New York City but plan to expand to other cities.

How can you make your business more accessible to busy customers? Try creating a mobile app to make shopping or booking appointments easier. Offer flexible hours or days or have a “live chat” for customer service and assistance available on your website.

When customers find it easy to connect with your brand, they’ll be more likely to become brand ambassadors and help spread the word about your business. At Brand School, our highly effective, premier branding program, we give you the tools you need to help your brand connect better with your ideal customer.
